Our Mission at United Playground

Image
Here at United Playground, we are passionate about volunteering and the communities in which they help. We have hand picked a small selection of African countries that need your help the most. All of our programmes have been selected because of the genuine help they need, the low costs that they are able to offer our volunteers and for the safety of the area and country they reside in.

The difference between us and other organisations is that we are affordable. Why should volunteers pay a fortune when they are giving their time for free?

When you volunteer with United Playground, you will be developing and learning new skills, experiencing new cultures and helping children realise their potential. So why not check out our programmes, book today and start giving.

Researcher required

United Playground is looking for a volunteer to spend four weeks in Ghana gathering information on new programmes. For more information email info@unitedplayground.com

Konko Zone

Comprises of four villages situated in a small traditional area surrounded by green scenery near Koforidua in the eastern region. Volunteers are needed to teach football in the communities, basics in the English language, mathematics and physical education. The accommodation is very simple and we recommend volunteers purchase a bicycle (£20) to get around.

Missahoe Charity Home

Are you a physical therapist or just want to volunteer at this orphanage. You could work with Richard who was overdosed him on sleeping pills, resulting in him now having difficulty walking. He needs daily exercise and undivided attention in order to improve his physical mobility and mental state, as he has great potential for a ‘normal’ life.

Agbozume Orphanage

Agbozume Orphanage is in one of the poorest towns in Ghana and it desperately needs help in terms of volunteers and donations. The children have hardly any toys, games, clothes and general living materials. Located in Agbozume which is in the Volta Region and only an hour to Togo. Abgozume has a very unique culture and is well known for its 'bird dancing'.

Journalism Placement

If you are contemplating a career in journalism, we can set you on the right track. Print Journalism - Working for a newspaper in Ghana will give you experience of a busy newsroom with a new understanding of the relationships between media, politics and audience. Radio Journalism - Some stations offer mainly talk-based shows, while others focus on community programming, news and music.

Veterinary Placement

Work with veterinarians in private practice, clinic or venture out with vets specializing in farm animals. You will have opportunities to work hands-on with animals such as dogs, cats, sheep, goats, monkeys, and parrots. The doctors and nurses also make regular house calls for cattle, poultry and pigs. Some of the common diseases include: ticks, worms, pneumonia, distocia, and lice infestation.
